Cam & Bilbo Weekly Chat: THE Rashard/Arenas/Richardson/Gortat/Carter/Pietrus/Hedo/$/Bench Player Trade

Bilbo likes Sam Adams and blondes

Cam likes 40's and chicks who work out

Cam: So we’ve read the breakdown of these trades sending has been’s, salary, and a few still legit ballers to different squads. We don’t need to break down each trade or everyone’s motivation since most people who see this chat are already well informed. But is there anything out there that you still have questions about? I'm intrigued by Orlando, obviously, and how these guys will come together. Will Gil-Zero’s attitude change to where he can once again feel free to be himself? Can SVG corral Gil to become someone who plays defense and fits into the system? I think that J-Rich is going to be great and is twice the player that Pietrus is. Hedo is intriguing as well but is this guy even someone who can be trusted at this point after flopping the past 1.35 seasons when compared to how much he's making in salary?  Is it awesome that three former Warriors were included in this deal and that former Warriors rookies Jason Richardson and Gilbert Arenas finally are able to be on the same team again and play full court one-on-one against eachother after practice?

Bilbo: My biggest question is…what were The Suns thinking? Hedo needed to go, but why give up J-Rich? Who is going to spread the floor for Nash? Carter is injured and even at full strength he can’t replace Richardson’s skillz. I feel this is just another in a long series of mistakes the Suns front office (Sarver) has made over the last few seasons. I can’t see this current team succeeding this year. On the other hand, I think the big winner over the weekend was the Wizards. You get rid of Arenas and you open things up for John Wall by giving him a legit 3 pt shooter. If he ever gets healthy, I think Wall will make a 2nd half push for ROY. Yeah, write it down. F-you Blake Griffin!

Cam: It’s hard to argue that Phoenix’s primary motivation for this trade was nothing more than financial. So, yes, it was a mistake in the basketball skillz sense for The Suns but Sarver knew what he was doing by reducing his overall payroll. Sarver is a notorious cheap ass as we have seen many times before. Vince’s contract comes off the books at the end of this year, Hedo’s contract is gone, and it’s hard to make an argument that Phoenix is over the moon happy about receiving Marcin Gortat. I know Gortat was a big deal free agent in 2009 but that was just because Daryl Morey wanted him and all of the other GM’s therefore acted accordingly. I feel really bad for Steve Nash. Here we have a 2 time MVP who just signed an extension in summer 2010 instead of going to another organization because he trusted Phoenix management and he just got royally kicked in the nuts. I’m talking “swinging from the rafters from a harness cord with your legs splayed wide open met by a Chuck Norris roundhouse perfectly timed for when Nash swings to shoe level” kicked in the nuts. For someone who can impact a game as much as he still can and who has given so much to this franchise, this sucks for him. Even though there’s no way in hell that he would, I really think Nash should demand a trade. Be a dick, sit out with many bad backs, complain, get the heck out of the Sarver cheapo system. Oh, and I totally agree with you on John Wall. I hope he gets well soon (I sent him a Hallmark) so that this ROY race can really get going. This thought is totally swaying from subject and could be a whole chat in and of itself but would any team in The Association take Tyreke Evans overJohn Wall right now? I mean, wow. Sophomore’s are slumping indeed.

Bilbow-wow: I think Nash is reaching a point where he has to go to a contender. This is the same thing that Garnett went through with The Timberwoofs. He was almost too loyal and people were begging him to jump ship and land somewhere for a chance at a title. Things worked out for him and I think if Nash demanded a trade no one would think any less of him. The question is, where would he fit in (contracts/salary caps aside)? Would it be crazy for him to go to the Knicks? Or what about the Lakers where his defensive deficiencies could be absorbed by the other players? Miami? Houston? Atlanta?
So now that Kahn is earning back his credibility, is Sarver the worst Executive (as the Owner) in the league? Worse than Wallace (GM) giving away Gasol?

Cam: No, nobody is as bad as Wallace. That was just a joke in a box. Man, that hurts to even remember…thanks broseph. Nobody is talking about Nash leaving because it won’t happen. He’s just too good of a dude and too loyal to the organization that made him Two Time MVP Steve Nash. He is also super gullible if he believes in this dump salary & rebuild effort is worth it while he is nearly 37 years old (birthday = 2/7…also known as Steve Nash Day in Canada). The problem with Sarver is that he is doing what it takes to make a few bucks here and a few bucks there. He’s acting like a dreaded business man with this shiz which total destroys a fan’s confidence. Many popular and successful owners treat owning a team like they are the custodian of the organization and aren’t in it to make money as a first priority. You have to have tons of dough made elsewhere and use NBA ownership as a hobby with the end goal of Playoff Performance in order to be successful. Anyway, enough about Sarver. Let’s talk about Otis Smith (Orlando GM) and Ernie Grunfeld (Washington GM). Otis gave a terrible contract to Rashaaaard “Sweet Lew” Lewis and Ernie gave the key to the Wizard coffers to Gilbert “Agent Zero/Shoe Pooper” Arenas. These guys got to simply swap terrible contracts and, in essence, rid their scrolls of their biggest mistakes. “This week on Mistake Swappers!” So who is the biggest winner in all of this? Gilbert? He gets to go back home to his childhood team, wear #1 in tribute to his favorite player of all time Anfernee Penny Hardaway, and not be the franchise player while still making franchise player coin. Lucky.

Arenas vs. Blatch; The Poo Shoe Story

Gil-Zero is no longer allowed to pull pranks. You see, Gil-Zero thought that leaving a gun out in the locker room for former teammate and now former NBA player Javaris Crittendon constituted a "prank". Agent Zero confessed to going prankless in a recent interview with some Sports Illustrated Guy.  But not without talking about one of the nastiest pranks ever.

I could go on, but please hear it from the Agent's mouth:

Gil, where's the beard at?

Arenas Sh*t In His Own Shoes

It's that point in the story when all of us already know that Gilbert Arenas avoided jail time with a relatively lenient sentencing of 20 days in a half-way house and 400 hours of community service from threatening Javaris Crittendon with unloaded guns. Gilbert appears a humble being and is probably dead-smack in the middle of learning and growing up as still a relatively young man. And instead of boring you with ESPN links to info on the situation (oops), I would like you to direct your attention to Jake Appleman of SLAM Magazine. From his revelation that he almost wrote a robust article detailing the NBA Media through the treatment of Gil-Zero, to the awesome links to other pertinent Hibachi breakdowns/articles, the fact is that Jake's is just one damn good piece.

UPDATE 3/28/10: check out True Hoops' Arenas piece. Nice work with that text message Gil!

Shaq w/ Gil-Zero's Fiancé

Shaq's been cheating on his wife with Gil-Zero's fiancé. The Big Dickhead continues to show his true colors.

Peep the article HERE. Below is one of the super saucy emails. LOL, Nextians:

Gil Zero: The Timeline

The first part of The Sportsguy's podcast with "buddy" House gives us a good breakdown on what may have happened in the Gils Gunz situation. Oh, and by the way in case you haven't heard, Gilbert Arenas has been suspended indefinitely without pay by Csar Stern.

Gil Zero: The Definitive Statement

Yes, that is a pre-game picture of Gil-Zero shooting guns and saying that he was just doing that touchdown dance from "Any Given Sunday". Yes, the picture above was taken before yesterday's game amidst all of the unloaded-gun-flashing madness. Yes, this afternoon Gilbert Arenas was suspended indefinitely from the NBA for his follies. And to get the DEFINITIVE STATEMENT on the entire situation, please read our Definitive NBA Statement Maker, Kelly Dwyer by clicking on those words "DEFINITIVE STATEMENT" up there. Or for those that are too lazy to move their mouse upward, just click HERE.

P.S. I sure am glad that the Warriors' rush-offer to Gil a few years back after Baron signed with The Clippers didn't happen. He would have no doubt shot Nellie.

Gil Zero: Another Reason To Love Him

When it comes to shooting, Gilbert Arenas just has to embrace all aspects of the verb. Whether it be firing clutch 3's from 12 feet beyond the arc (see graph above), playing the first person shooter game Halo 3, bricking crunch time free throws, or pulling a gun on a teammate in order to welch on a bet; Gil Zero is all about his shot.

NBA's "Behind The Backboard" Camera; 11/8/09

The "Behind The Glass Backboard" camera at NBA games takes some sweet action shots. Such an interesting angle, so many amazing looks captured forever on digital storage devices. It's so cool that I often dream about being minaturized and sitting behind the glass. Please Professor Frink, make this happen! Let's have a look at Amare's dunk during the Sun's 102-90 win at Washington last night:

One's eye immediately goes to Amare's Oakley Blades which were often blogged about by me last year. He lost the yellow shade lens, but boy are those things awesome. Word on the calle is that Amare hates wearing these things but whole "detached retna" injury which caused him to sit on his ass for 5 months got him thinking that they're necessary. Way to use your big brain, Amare.

The vision is then focused on Amare's underarm deodorant. Thankfully, he wants to smell good for the games. I'm guessing it's Degree 360 by the looks it.

Now that's some great defense by Deshawn! This idiot is in ultimate "there's no WAY I'm getting infront of that" scared mode. Nice neck beard and non-Lebron Adidas kicks by the way. Did Gilbert hook you up with some Adidas? Also, nice neck tatoo.

The best aspect of this phun with photo has to be Caron Butler at the top of the key. What in the hell is he doing? Is he so disgusted by The Wiz defense that he is hiding his eyes from a vicious Stoudamire dunk? Is he complaining to the ref that he got held? Is he checking his watch? Is he signaling to the Wizards bench? We shall never know the truth.

And this is why pictures tell 1000 stories. Or at least 4.

Gil Zero In TNT Commercial

Gilbert Arenas was fined $25K today for not speaking to the media since Media Day on 9/28/09. Although he was in an NBA on TNT commercial with Dwight Schrute recently. But I don't think he speaks in this one either.

What the heck is Gil-Zero/Gazo Tha Pranksta doing these days? Has he gone back to his samurai roots and taken a vow of silence? I think that Gil is storing up his focus with great discipline and will soon unleash a tidal wave of playmaking fury all over the court of his opponents. Watchout for Gil!

Gil Zero IS BACK!!!

Here is iphone video from last night (Friday, 8/14) at some streetball league game. Although the dunk at 5:48 cannot be missed, I highly advise watching and listening to this entire vid. From the And-1 on court commentator making fun of a dude's shorts to the sideline spectators talking about what they expect of Gilbert this next season, this thing is high entertainment. F*ck reality TV.

So what do you think? Is new Gilbert NEXT? 2nd Round Fantasy pick?

The NBA's Great Eccentric

My favorite NBAer is back in the game and back in the news. Next year for Gilbert, my dear Nextians, will be awesome. Gil-Zero will be back with a vengance. If you haven't heard, Gil-Zero won't be blogging and based on his few games so far this season, he won't be taking his typical "quality" shots. But he will be leading a team of Antwan Jamison, Caron Butler and Andray Blatche (ha!) to a probable 6 seed in the East. And undoubtedly Gil will have a sweet low top basketball shoe with Adidas. Is Gil crazier than ever? Maybe he's actually chilled out and unsure of his abilities after being away from the game for so long? Regardless of where it's coming from, Arenas is the most fascinating player in the NBA. Check It:

New NBA Tattoo

One of our favorite NBA'ers just got a new tattoo. Thanks to the guys at Wizards Insider:

Arenas has decided to show his permanent support of President-elect Barack Obama with a tattoo. Arenas had the words "Change We Believe In" tattooed onto the fingers of his left hand in cursive writing. Then, Gilbert showed the outside of his pinky finger, which had "44" inked on it.

Arenas shortened Obama's campaign slogan, "Change We Can Believe In," choosing not to add ink to his thumb. Arenas has "change" written on the outside of his index finger; "we" on the inside of his middle finger; "believe" on the inside of his ring finger; and "in" on the inside of his pinky and "44" on the outside of his pinky. In case you didn't already know, Obama will be the 44th POTUS.

Arenas said he went down to Miami to have his favorite tattoo artist stitch him up after the Wizards arrived in Orlando late Friday night. He didn't explain how he got there -- Miami is an hour flight or three-hour drive from Orlando -- and I was too shocked by the tattoo to ask a follow-up question. All that I could say was, "You've got a lot of free time, don't you?"

Could Gilbert's hand-too be better than the current #1 seed in the NBA Tattoo department? Probably not but it sure sounds crazy.

Another Reason to Love Arenas

Aside from his wacky personality and exceptional ballin' skillz, the lengendary Gil-Zero I shoes by Adidas complete Gilbert's legacy as an all around basketball icon for the ages.

We all know that becoming a legend on the basketball court is 50% skill, 25% personality and 25% shoes. And Gilbert Arenas and his Gil-Zero I's do not disappoint. OK, I know the Gil-Zero II's kinda suck because they only made them in lowtops and there is actually a Looney Toons version but the G-I's are classic. Heck, even Jordan made a badd shoe every now and then.

So if you are in need of some new kicks, join your Cammishoner and pick up a pair of Gil-Zero's in your preferred colorway at Eastbay dot com. If you purchase from THIS LINK I'll make 5% since I just signed this humble blog up as an affiliate of Eastbay. I have two pairs of the Gil-Zero Juans and they are the most stunning and durable hoops kicks I've ever owned. Enjoy owning your opponent on the court!

Gilbert's New Invetion

Thank you TrueHoop: Gilbert talking to SLAM: "I've got an invention. I'll let your hear it, but if you make money you've gotta hit me off. SLAM: I got you. It's called the Cool Aid (note: I couldn't tell if he said Cool Aid or Cool Wave. Either way, copyright pending...) It's like the microwave, but the Cool Aid. So for instance you can put a warm soda in the machine and boom, it's cold. Most people, "Oh no, you call that the freezer, but nah, the freezer takes two minutes. Just like you've got the oven and the microwave, you've got the freezer and the Cool Aid. SLAM: But what else would you want to make cool besides soda? Gil: Anything. Like if your ice cream is melting, boom, put it in. Beep!"
