Warriors Players Value

Here’s how much the 26-56 (.317) Warriors missed seven of their key players when injured:

Ronny Turiaf (40 games missed) — 15/42 (.357) when playing; 11/40 (.275) when not
Anthony Randolph (49 games missed) — 11/33 (.333) when playing; 15/49 (.306) when not
Kelenna Azubuike (73 games missed) — 3/9 (.333) when playing; 23/73 (.315) when not
Andris Biedrins (49 games missed) — 10/33 (.303) when playing; 16/49 (.327) when not
Corey Maggette (12 games missed) — 21/70 (.300) when playing; 5/12 (.417) when not
Monta Ellis (18 games missed) — 19/64 (.297) when playing; 7/18 (.389) when not
CJ Watson (17 games missed) — 18/65 (.277) when playing; 8/17 (.471) when not

So the Warriors are WORSE when Maggette and Monta play. I know this squad was effed last year but the numbers don't lie.

Warriors vs. Raptors 4/4/10

Hurray! Don Nelson finally wins his 7,854th game (an educated guess) and is now thisclose to retiring to his couch of perpetual indulgence.........which we all know is located in Maui. Maybe he can take some dance lessons while he's there (watch the last part of the video to know just what the heck I'm talking about). Hula possibly?

Can you believe that the Raptors might make the 8th spot in the the Eastern Conference Playoffs with ole' defense like that? They can probably just put Hedo on LeBron and do fine. After a first round sweep they'll lose their best player ever (so far) as Bosh departs to join Carlos Arroyo in Miami. I feel sorry for the Raps fans as we all know how ravenous they are. Roar. The crowds at American Airlines Arena remind me of rOracle. Props to Toronto-area Canadians (and screw the ones from Montreal).

Steph Curry continues to play like a P-I-M-P with 29 points on 23 shots and 12 helpers. It was also good to see Anthony Morrow rise from the dead and contribute splashing 5 of 7 threes. That kid has some serious touch and (now I get to use my favorite erotic basketball saying of all time) was tickling the nylon all game long. Maggette pulled a Magette by going 10/12 from the line and even a Turiaf dumbass turnover couldn't prevent this record-tying win.

Where is Monta you ask? He's been suffering from flu-like symptoms since March 22nd which either means that he has one intense hangover or there's something seriously wrong with him. Word on the street is that he'll miss this last 4 game roadtrip and is probably done for the season. If this is Monta bitching out on the end of the season, seriously, eff that kid. I'm over his ball-hogging ways. But if he's really sick and they can't figure out what's wrong, godspeed Mississippi Bullet. I'll let you know my offical end of season stance on Monta as more info becomes available.........which means I'm off to read Tim Kawakami's blog. Peace out, Nextians.

Ready for Maggette

This is a significant stat:
Maggette became the first Warriors player to attempt 10 or more free throws in 11 consecutive games since Wilt Chamberlain in 1964.

Even more significant since he makes 84% of them!

Warriors vs. Nuggets: 1/21/10 orangino edit

"NOW WAIT A MINUTE! WAIT A MINUTE! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!" Tolliver should have gotten free throws at the end of regulation! Well, maybe not. But Monta does have a thing for fouling Nuggets at the end of quarters. To channel some Iverson "Practice" Press Conference: How is Monta supposed to be a franchise player if he's out there fouling at the end of quarters? Not getting outta the way. Not getting outta the way. But fouling. How's he supposed to make to make his teammates better by fouling? ("The Bears are who we thought they were!!")

Another amazingly efficient game for "Who's ready for" Maggette.........in the loss. And a big "suck it" to all the Maggette haters. I like the guy's hustle AND his hussle. Aside from the random ill-timed jumper (like Monta doesn't take any of those, does he?), which he doesn't take many of, he knows who he is and just gets to the line all frigging day. Teams know he is going to drive and can't do anything about it. And do I have to mention he makes almost every free throw? As always, enjoy the orangino edit:

Maggette Not Paying Off for Warriors

While he may not be bad enough to go below the Curry Line, Corey Maggette may not be all he was made up to be for the Warriors:

The Eddy Curry Line was established to put a spotlight on how truly anemic Curry's overall fantasy line is. The standard: a player must average more turnovers than assists, steals, and blocks combined – in order to qualify, a player must have appeared in at least half of his team's games and averaged at least 20 minutes of playing time.

Chris Mannix, Inside the NBA blogger for SI, wrote:

Corey Maggette has proved to be a prolific scorer throughout his 10-year career. What he hasn't proved to be, however, is much else. Golden State's third-leading scorer this season (19.7 points), Maggette has become the Bay Area's black hole.

Five games, five Golden State losses and a more than 2:1 turnover-to-assist ratio. Maggette's selfish play hasn't gone unnoticed by other players. According to sources, after the final buzzer against Boston, Celtics forward Kevin Garnett turned to Maggette and shouted, "Way to get your numbers."

"He just puts his head down and goes to the basket," an Eastern Conference scout said. "He doesn't even look to pass."

Word from team sources is that the Warriors are already regretting signing Maggette to a five-year, $50 million deal last offseason. When Monta Ellis returns to the lineup early next year, Golden State will have to figure out how to spread the wealth among three players (Ellis, Jamal Crawford and Maggette) who aren't very good at spreading it.
