Froggy Fresh - Dunked On

James is such a douche with his "J-E-F" style haircut.  Froggy and Mike are balling.  They must be a pretty good team in the Mini Basketball League.

Thanks BDL

Hot Cheetos & Takis

I was going to attempt to break this amazing video down.  From the "what the heck are Takis?" question to which rapper each kid sounds like. I was also considering a breakdown of the basketball footage since this is, you know, kind of a blog that has ties to basketball.

But then I read Rembert at Grantland and it was so good it made me cry.  Now just posting this amazing video seems good enough for a Nextian.

UPDATE: check out the lyrics directly from their web page and support these kids with a $1 download HERE.

NBA Rappers

Privaledge and Kevin Durant - Wired

KD sounds pretty good starting at the 1:40 mark.  He certainly is a "young boy who is living old". Great line.

Stephen Jackson aka Stak5 "Shot Caller TRILLmix" Ft. French Montana

Stack Jack can spit, for certain. The video is pretty legit too with the beautiful Milwaukee skyline, Air Jordan 4's, and a nice hotel room suite. How long was Jackson a Buck again?

Louis Williams (NBA Philadelphia 76ers) Freestyle - Imma Boss

Youtube commentors comment on Youtube that Lou is the best current NBA rapper. And the title suggests that he did this freestyle which is quite impressive.

Well, at least they're all better than a young Kobe:

Just Say No To Drugs; 1987 Lakers

This has been posted to The Nextians blog of what's Next before.  I recently saw this posted on Deadspin's "Hunt For The Worst 80's Team Song" and wanted to put it up here again.  Remember, just say no to drugs:

Kareem Rush: Hold You Down

Kareem Rush has some decent vocal chords. That is until you listen closely and realize that he's singing through autotune. What a cop out.

Kareem wants to hold his girls down. At first, you are worried that he's an aggressive lover. But then after the 4th listen (yeah right!) you figure out that he's talking about being a steady force in a young tender's life. He's obviously a much better lover than other guys, but isn't that the message in every R&B song sung by a dude?

A quick read of Kareem's Wikipedia page tell us just how accomplished of an R&B singer he is (control F "R&B").

Bloodbuzz Ohio

I'm not sure what this song really means but I'm pretty sure it's about the sadness that people from Ohio feel about LeBron James and his possible/likely scampering to another franchise. Matt Berninger's weathered baritone really captures their collective guttoral churning:

Bloodbuzz Ohio could be about the feeling of sadness from The Cavs fans losing the beloved Mike Brown or GM Danny Ferry. But I doubt it.

Reality Is Funny: The Singing Addition

Unintentional comedy is the best. Here are a few doozies that have been recently discovered by the peoples who scour the internets.

Introducing John Daker:

At least Eduard Hil actually knows how to sing.....even if it's just Russian jibberish:

I hope you enjoyed your break from basketball and have a few songs stuck in your head.

Delonte West KFC Rap: Hot Sauce In My Bag

For those of you who haven't seen this amazing freestyle rap of Delonte West and Jameer Nelson at KFC waiting for their free chickens over the summer:

Just kidding. That wasn't Jameer. They only played together at St. Joes. But did you see those guns in the backseat? 4 different types of parfaits on your ass!

The Basketball Jones: Showin' Love

The Basketball Jones have a great week-daily video show on the internets about the NBA. If you don't watch The Jones and consider yourself a Nextian, please delete your We Got Next team, cancel your League Pass subscription, move to Seattle and start watching MLS Soccer. And don't let these size 12 Hyperize hit your dumpy ass on the way out!

Anyway, TBJ just put out a great music video about The NBA. Enjoy:

Ron Artest: Workout Video

I am thisclose to transcribing the lyrics of this terrible video/song titled "Workout" by Ron Artest. He "raps" about sweating out alcohol and being caught with coke in his nose. Not to mention his really bad lip syncing during the alley way shots or the "Adrienne!" screams at the end of the vid.

Ron Artest: Blind

Please, please, please tell me that Ron Artest spends his own money making his music videos. Like, how much did he have to pay that Asian stripper to pretend to be his girlfriend? And how much did that "Lakers" shirt cost? Tru Warier Records is coming up big with this joint.

Also, did you see Ron-Ron chuck Ariza's shoe the other night? The tru deafinision of sportzmanship:

Ron Artest: Savior

I've read Three Cups of Tea. I've read The Kite Runner. I tried to read A Thousand Splendid Suns but got bored. And I'm guessing that Ron Artest has read these books as well. Which means that we both agree on one thing: Fuck The Taliban.

The NBA's New Anthem

Reggae Dancehall music artist SNIPA has pretty much crafted the best NBA anthem I have ever heard. Not since the piano dronings of "Where Will Amazing Happen?" has a song so captured the heart of NBA competition and what all of us love about The Association. Please enjoy:

If you liked that, now listen to SNIPA talk about the making of the video. Classic:

Incredible "Pop" Culture Reference # 63: Riskay

This MUSIC VIDEO by Riskay dropped in early 2008. In case you haven't seen it yet, I'd highly advise heading over to youtube to check it out. Unfortunately, due to the as*holes over at Riskay's record company, we are not allowed to embed this video. The easy to use "push play" function is something I like to provide to all dedicated Nextian readers/viewers. So I can only give you the shitty link above. Sorry.

Shout out to Bilbo Baggins for emailing me this vid. Much love. And much love for destroying that ring by throwing it in the lava in Mt. Doom. You are an incredible furry footed friend.
